A Letter Through Time

Dear younger me,

Life as a teenager is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. Thrilling, confusing, and most of the time, scary. You will laugh loud, cry hard, and feel so deeply, more than you would ever imagine. Right now, you’re probably dreaming about growing up and becoming older, but please, slow down because being a teen isn't all about freedom and fun.

In high school, friendships will change. The people you thought would be your best friends forever won't stay around. It hurts, but you will grow and so will they. With growth comes the need to often move in different directions. At first, you may feel angry, hurt, or frustrated, and you’ll question what went wrong and try to do anything to fix it. Over time, you will realize that not all friendships are meant to last forever. Soon you’ll meet people who truly understand you. They will laugh with you at the same silly things until your stomachs hurt and stay by your side when things get hard. These are the people that you will consider family and who your friendships with are built on late-night talks, shared struggles, and real connections.

When you feel like everyone is sprinting ahead in life, whether it’s getting their driver’s licenses, landing first jobs, or getting that scholarship, remember that your path is uniquely yours. Don’t let comparison steal your joy because growth is not a race. Keep learning, don’t rush the journey, and surround yourself with people who lift you higher.
